Animocities
After several parts of the Néant / Lumière series produced mainly between June and November 2016, I felt the need to get into a parenthesis, a little deviation from driving to better get back on the road. Having put the Matrocities on hold - only two paintings produced this year, eleven in all for three years - I resumed the naive and tortured automatic gestures specific to this series including animal creatures, sometimes difficult to identify with a particular species, always with a free and spontaneous technique. Sometimes we can clearly see a bird, a fish, a unicorn, a slug. While other family members of the animocities are just ... not clear! A spot with a few features serving as jaws and pairs of eyes, an unfinished, aborted, rabid, lively and fertile urban creature, litters that grow like mushrooms alongside gaping holes that are slow to fill, flat wasteland and hostile, puddles and carcasses swallowed by the wheels of a vehicle.
